OISIDE is taking part in the IVAM Alcoi exhibition ‘Disseny valencià’

The N12 collection by OISIDE conceived by Jorge Herrera is being exhibited together with other important Valencia design references

OISIDE will be presenting at the IVAM Alcoi exhibition ‘Disseny valencià (2009-2019). Productes per a un món global’ (Valencia Design (2009-20019). Products for a global world), a look back through product design from Valencia where more than 150 pieces will be included that have gained recognition thanks to their innovative and experimental character over the last decade. Amongst the designs on display is the N12 collection by OISIDE, designed by Jorge Herrera

With this exhibition IVAM has underlined its commitment to industrial design and offers a new perspective on the discipline, which it does in collaboration with 90 businesses and some 70 designers belonging to different generations. According to the curator Xavier Giner the exhibition illustrates the cultural significance of the design of day-to-day objects, their beauty and the role of local manufacture in a globalised world

Wire frame aluminium furniture, a commitment to innovation

OISIDE as a reference in outdoor furniture design is being represented by the N°12 collection in the exhibition; a collection that re-imagines the look of traditional wicker furniture but featuring aluminium as a longer lasting, good looking and highly resistant alternative. The renowned designer Jorge Herrera created the series of pieces, he wanted to juxtapose with the idea of tradition, nature and innovation

The N12 furniture, including chairs, stools and loungers are characterised by their wire framework and impeccable welded joints; when it comes to practicality their light weight, stackable design and resistance to inclement weather conditions stands out. Domestic design like furniture and more utilitarian objects for private use are included at the IVAM exhibition; pieces connected with communal environments and public space; key pieces to understanding industrial design of Valencia together with creations form a younger generation. The exhibition ‘Disseny valencià (2009-2019)’ has been extended and can now be visited until April 18th this year.
